YuRide, a startup from York University with a ridesharing application underway is currently partnering with the university to implement a robust ridesharing program for its members. With the help of GreenGo, both partners can advance their sustainability goals.
Our Challenge
In the 2014 IPCC report, it was reported that the transportation sector accounted for almost 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2010. Across cities such as Toronto*, passenger vehicles contribute to a major share of emissions coming from the sector. Reducing single-occupancy vehicles through ridesharing presents a valuable solution to this problem.

Our Solution
Our solution aims to promote and bring awareness to the environmental benefits of ridesharing programs by providing quantitative data to their users and their host organizations.
We engage with users on their ridesharing application by providing environmental statistics of their activity. For organizations who host these programs, we conduct impact assessments that evaluate their sustainability performance.

Our work will support the success of these projects by increasing community awareness and engagement with ridesharing as a commuting option with environmental benefits and by providing evidence-based results for its impact as a whole.
GreenGo hopes to create a ridesharing community at the user level as well as at the organizational level that will support widespread adoption of this activity for sustainability.
